We all have the frequent flyer. The same address calling several times a week over the expanse of months, maybe years. How are we fixing this problem?

The statistics in the article, of the top five percent of medicaid patients utilize over half of the entire budget, is startling.

In many service areas, there have been a growing number of ideas to regulate this problem. In my service, we are beginning a community paramedic program. Much like how the author was surprised with the advancements of nurses, he would be amazed by what we perform in EMS today. Scheduling doctors appointment and follow ups, wound treatments, and accessing medical records are just the tip of the ice berg in the ever evolving paramedic education.
